Begin the tour a relaxing 50km private drive to Wadowice, birthplace of Karol Józef Wojtyła. See the house where the Holy Father was born, the parish church where he was baptised and used to pray. Take a guided tour in the Family Home Museum. Its exhibition will unfold the different stages of the John Paul’s life.
The next stop is Monastery in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a significant place of pilgrimage to the miraculous icon of Our Lady with its basilica and park. The shrine is visited by thousands of people every year and it’s declared a UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. It is called “Polish Jerusalem” as it was built on a model brought from Jerusalem. Apart from the main monastery church it includes 42 churches and chapels hidden in the forest on the surrounding hills. Right from the year 1600 when the first small church of Crucifixion was built, up to the XIX century more chapels were added to the vast Calvary paths complex.
After that you will continue on to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki and gaze at a modern, newly built sanctuary devoted to John Paul II. Both on the outskirts of Krakow. There is a chapel with the miraculous Jesus, I trust in you painting and relics of Saint Sister Faustina, an apostle of Divine Mercy canonized by Pope John Paul II.
