Auschwitz - the memorable experience

Visit the largest of the Nazi death camps – Auschwitz-Birkenau – the site that witnessed the tragedy and cruelty of the Second World War.

This is our offer for those who wish to visit the Memorial site on their own, without the local guide. This is a private, direct door-to-door transfer with our driver’s waiting time and a return transfer. A guided tour in English at Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum is not included in the total price – you visit by yourselves. We will organize the entry slots for you – as it has to be booked in advance.

You're going to arrive about half an hour before your tour, as there’s about 20-25 minute time required for the security check and entrance procedures. This applies to all types of Auschwitz tours. The driver will give you guidebook and a map so you can easily follow your way around the camp. It will take you about 2 hours to see the first part – Auschwitz I and then you will be taken to a nearby (2 km away) Auschwitz II-Birkenau which is the second, integral part of the Holocaust Memorial. Visiting Birkenau takes about one hour.

Please note that this option of visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau is available only at some limited times. Generally – everyone who enters Auschwitz between 10 am and 3 pm has to take part in a guided tour. Therefore, in order to see Auschwitz without a guide you must arrange your pick up from Krakow for no later than 8.15 am or for late afternoon.

From October 1st to March 31st (low season dates) there are no restrictions on entering Auschwitz without a guide, so you can arrange a self- guided tour for any time of the day as long as the entry slots are available.

After the tour our driver will take you back to your hotel or to any point within the center of Krakow – following your wish. You can pay for the whole service after the tour.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MEMORIAL

The Auschwitz – Birkenau Memorial Museum (founded in 1947) was included on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. The first transport of Polish political prisoner deportees arrived in Auschwitz on June 14, 1940. This day is regarded as the date the camp started to function. Afterwards, Soviet Prisoners of War, Gypsies and prisoners of many other nationalities from all over the German-occupied Europe were transported here to  suffer and die in hellish conditions. In 1942, notably after the construction of the nearby Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camp, destruction of the European Jews started to come. Most of them were immediately put to death in the gas chambers of Birkenau. Those who spared immediate death by being selected for labour were systematically stripped of their individual identities. Most prisoners survived at Auschwitz only a few weeks or months. A visit to Auschwitz will let you learn more about this tragic time in the world’s history.
