Poland is a unique and beautiful country - it goes without saying. It can really interesting both on the surface and underground! You could get a glimpse of that while visiting Salt Mine in Wieliczka. Although, this mine  is slightly different.

Guido Coal Mine is located in Silesia Reigion, about 1,5 h drive from Krakow. This area is heavily industrialised, therefore the number of mines of a various kinds is impressive.

You'll start your tour with taking an elevator down. It's not an ordinary one, that's a typical, old, miners' elevator, that is going to help you descending about 320 m. 

Level 320. That's how your destination is called, it's a place when you'll learn about mining history in Poland and the process of its developement and technical evolution. In one part of the whole route there's authentic, hanging trolley for miners. They used to take it while moving accross the mine. This facility is an only one in the world that is available for tourists. The trolley will take you the the place where two, giant mining mashines are working, showing how this heavy machinery work while digging the coal out. Speaking of a coal, although the mine is not operating commecially anymore, there's a lot of this fossil fuel around. There are still some extrmally thick layers of coal down in the mine.
